Boosting CPU’s
image through
cards and calendars
by Edward Pormilos

In fulfilling a vision of the University President, the Publication Committee, headed by Mr. Edward Pormilos, embarked on some creative ways of publicity and image-building of the University in time for the Christmas and New Year celebration. These were the customized postcards, Christmas cards, thank you cards and 2001 calendars. The postcards were of four types showing aesthetic view of the Alumni Garden, University Church, Henry Luce III Library and Rose Memorial Auditorium. The Christmas cards and thank you cards were creatively designed with the insertion of the University Church picture. The most pompous of these was the 2001 calendar showcasing the University’s image as a top school in the country today, a university with a wholesome campus and a well-organized alumni association worldwide, and an institution inculcating Christian values.

Stated in the calendar were the important words of Dr. Juanito M. Acanto, "Central Philippine University helps build God’s Kingdom on earth through the Christian education that it provides." Made of fine and glossy paper, its pages also contain pictures of the members of the Board of Trustees and officers of the CPU Alumni Association, Inc. These cards and calendars are open for sale (at printing cost) to any CPU constituent and alumni at the student service enterprise. This image-building project is part of the prelude to the grandest centennial celebration of the University in 2005.
