Señeres is 3rd Filamer President

All roads lead to Roxas City last August 11, 2000. It was the investiture of Dr. Expedito Advincula Seneres, the third President of Filamer Christian College. A busload of members of the University Church Jubilant Choir, and two fully loaded vans of the CPU Alumni Association and the Kabalaka Center came to witness the momentous event.

Among those who came to grace the occasion were no less than President and Mrs. Juanito Acanto, Dr. Nathaniel Fabula, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fely David, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Prof. Ricardo Patricio, Director of Planning and Development.

Dr. Seneres is a Centralian from the College of Theology (1962), Arts & Sciences (1965) and School of Graduate Studies (MA – 1975 and Ed.D. – 1985).

Many came to greet him. Among them were Mrs. Dolores B. Abadiano, Administrator of Capiz Emmanuel Hospital; Mr. Samuel Felasol, President of Capiz Kasapulanan of Baptist Churches; Dr. Domingo J. Diel, Jr., President of the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches (CPBC) and his predecessor; Mrs. Diane Plourde, missionary and representative of the International Ministries/ABC, USA; Dr. Renato V. Alba, President of Western Visayas College of Science & Technology (WVCST); Dr. Evelyn Pascua, OIC Director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED); Dr. Agustin A. Pulido, President of the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities (ACSCU); Mayor Antonio A. del Rosario of Roxas City, and; Gov. Vicente B. Bermejo.

The University Church Jubilant Choir directed by Mrs. Rebecca de Leon with pianist Mrs. Grena Delicana, sang "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and "On Eagle’s Wings" as musical officering.

Mr. Jessie Contreras, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Dr. Domingo Diel, Jr., outgoing college president presented the symbolic key to Dr. Seneres. Dr. Evelyn Pascua inducted him to office while Rev. Esfeamori Tandog, Acting General Secretary of CPBC, prayed a prayer of dedication.

Mr. Nick Leal, Jr., FCC Student Republic President; Mr. Jose Alvarez, Faculty and Staff Association President, and; Mr. Edgardo "Jun" Arbolado also came to express their statements of support.

Prior to becoming president, Dr. Seneres was Professor VI in the College of Education and School of Graduate Studies at WVCST. August 11, 2000 is a very significant date because it is his birthday, the effective date of his retirement from WVCST and the date of his investiture. He hit three birds with one stone. This called for a celebration and a grand celebration it was, indeed. After the investiture, all were invited to a grand reception at a nearby restaurant.

In the early 1960’s, Dr. Seneres was pastor of New Washington Baptist Church in New Washington, Aklan and Pavia Baptist Church in Pavia, Iloilo. In the late 60’s until the early half of 80’s he became a

teacher and instructor in different schools such as the Filamer Christian Institute, Capiz Regional Vocational High School in Dumalag, Capiz, Dumalag Vocational-Technical School, and CPUDHS. In the later half of the 80’s he became Asst. Dean, College of Arts & Sciences, WVCST, Lapaz, Iloilo City and became its Dean from 1989 to 1993. From 1993 until his retirement in August 2000, he was a Professor at the College of Education and School of Graduate Studies of the same school.

He received a Certificate of Merit from the then, Ministry of Education and Culture, R-VI in 1981and a Plaque of Recognition as Outstanding Faculty Member of WVCST-March 2000, among his other awards.

Dr. Seneres also held various positions in various organizations. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Filamer Christian College and Capiz Emmanuel Hospital. He is also a member of the CPU Corporation, Iloilo Mission Hospital Corporation, PAFTE, PAGE, SUCTEA, PAVE, RACE and ASAP.

Dr. Seneres is married to Dr. Nelly S. Seneres, an Associate Professor V of the College of Education of WVCST. They are blessed with three children: Merleo, an Electrical Engineer, married to Geraldine Ledoma, a nurse. Both are now working in Michigan, USA; Jo Ann, a registered nurse, married to Stanley Solis, and now working at the Iloilo City Health Office; Christine, also a registered nurse, now working in a hospital in Saudi Arabia. Dr. and Mrs. Seneres are also blessed with a grandson from Jo Ann and Stanley, Stann Steven who is now a Grade VI pupil.
