2nd Sem CEW harvests 559 by Rev. Jerson Narciso, University Chaplain A total of 559 children, students, faculty and staff and visitors opened their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ during the Christ Emphasis Week (CEW) this second semester of the school year 2000-2001. Amidst massive strikes, flash floods,
and the Epistle of Paul to the Philippians. Aside from the traditional convocations held for the different colleges and departments of the university, several activities were introduced. One of the highlights was the streamer making; theme song composition and essay writing contests, which were participated by the different colleges and departments. This activity helped a lot in creating awareness among students, faculty and staff about the CEW program. There were also film-showing activities during the evening convocations. The convocation speakers were: College-Rev. Ellery Contreras and Rev. Felix B. Colinco, Jr.; High School-Pastor Cris Amorsolo Sian and Rev. Ellery Contreras; Elementary-Mrs. Rose Saylo; Graduate Studies-Pastor Rudy Acosta; College of Law-Pastor Rudy Acosta; Evening Convocations-Pastor Samuel Talha and Rev. Melvin Mangana; Kindergarten-Pastor Adele Grace Fegarido; and Faculty and Staff-Rev. Danilo Borlado.

![]() Streamers - Making Contest Participants doing their thing Faculty and Staff join CEW by Jason Pagunsan More than 500 members of the CPU faculty and staff converged at the University Church last November 17, 2000 at 4 o’clock in the afternoon to attend a special CEW convocation for them. The convocation’s theme is "Jesus, Lord of All" based on Philippians 2:5-11 Rev. Danilo Borlado, Minister of International Baptist Church in Hong Kong, the speaker for the convocation, finally posed a hard challenge to each faculty and staff, saying, "…that if your life’s mission or vision is not parallel with that of the university’s, then, you have no business staying in the university". Certainly, it was a crucial point to ponder.
