New Regional State Prosecutor is a
Centralian Atty. Domingo Jardeleza Laurea, the recently appointed Regional State Prosecutor is a Centralian, having pursued and finished his Bachelor of Laws at Central Philippine University College of Law in 1977. Laurea, replacing the former RSP Vicente Aragona, together with all other newly appointed prosecutors, both from the city and province of Iloilo, took their oath of office last October 12, 2000 before DOJ Secretary Artemio G. Toquero. Laurea took his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) at the University of the Philippines in 1973 before he pursued his law at CPU. He first exercised his profession as associate member of Sycip Salazar Law Office in 1978 to 1979, as Regional Staff Advocate of Judge Advocate Generals Office (JAGO) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), |
Laurea is the son of Domingo Laurea, Sr. of Malate, Manila and Lawyer Rhoda Jardeleza-Laurea of Iloilo. He is married to Lawyer Lorna Laurea with whom he has one son, Patrick Dominic Laurea. |

Baluyo wins Millennium Chair Award Thirty-three year old Mechanical Engineering alumnus Jeremiah Baluyo won this year’s final search for "Bamboo Millennium Chair during the 3rd Bamboo Chair Competition at the Atrium ground floor lobby on September 5, 2000. He pocketed the grand prize of P15,000 courtesy of Iloilo Furniture manufacturers Association (IFMA), sponsor of the annual project. Baluyo has been a regular designer of Q Design Industries, Inc., whose recent obra maestro is a simple office or dining chair with black and brown colors combination, highlighted with round bamboo decor at the top. |

HS writers shine in PIA
sem-shop by Jason Pagunsan CPUDHS students, Aura Bree C. Dayo, of SSC Newton, and Rica Marcet Obsequio of II Aristotle, received awards in the recent Philippine Information Agency sponsored seminar-workshop held last August 21-23, 2000 at the River Queen Hotel, Iloilo City. Aura Bree received the "Most Promising Editorial Writer" and the "Most Promising Copy Editor" awards while Rica Marcet was the "Most Promising Feature Writer" and the "Most Promising Column Writer". The seminar-workshop was participated by more than 220 high school students from different schools in Iloilo City, Bacolod City and Antique. With Aura Bree and Rica Marcet was another promising writer Quennie Gobuyan from III Apo.
