Alumnus
shines in USALUMNI Corner
Larry D. Lebiga, BSC ’76
cum laude and CPA board topnotcher, was recently elected to the Board of
Directors of
the Philippine American
Society of Certified Public Accountants (PASCPA), the largest organization
of Filipino-American CPA’s in the United States and Canada for the 1999-2001
term.
Lebiga, who was a former
team editor of The Central Echo, is also the new editor of PASCPA News,
official publication of the Society.
Larry is currently president
of Advantage Financial Solutions (APS), a firm that provides tax advise
on employee benefits, investment, estate and trust planning based in Irvine,
California. He is married to a Centralian, Helen Bolanos,
AB ’77.
Shown here with Larry and
Helen Lebiga and daughters, Hannah and Hazel, is State of Hawaii Governor
Benjamin Cayetano, the highest elected Filipino-American government official
in the United States and the first governor of Hawaii of Filipino descent,
and his wife Vicky, who were special guests at the induction and ball of
PASCPA held at the Universal Studios Sheraton Hotel on September 18, 1999.
Hannah, who, together with the Irvine University High Madrigal Singers,
will perform at the Carnegie Hall, New York City in March 2000, and Hazel,
an accomplished pianist, provided the musical intermission during the affair.

Campañera
is senior citizens PRO in Region VI
Gonzalo Campanera, retired
manager of CPU Dining Hall, was elected press relation officer (PRO)
of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association in Region VI.
The federation participated in the national celebration of the Senior
Citizens Week last October 1-7 under the theme “Towards a Society
for All Ages.”
Dean Polido in ADPCN leadership
Dr. Betty Polido, dean of
the College of Nursing, was elected as member of the Board of Directors
of the Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing, Inc (ADPCN).
The national election was held at Midtown Hotel, Manila on October
23.
