Promenade
of Lights
attracts alumni, public
![]() The CPU Alumni Promenade- Concert Park has become a favorite rendezvous site for alumni and community folks, aside from students, faculty and staff every night. After the ceremonial (switching-on of lights) on December 3, 1999, the place was transformed into a ‘Promenade of Lights.” This is the second year that the University campus becomes a carnival of glittering multi – colored lights to provide an ambiance of the Yuletide season for the entire CPU community. As it were, the campus glittered with hundreds of colorful lanterns, numerous nativity scenes, lighted trees and various figurines depicting Christmas-related stories. Alumnus Rene Villa, Presidential Assistant for Western Visayas, was the Guest of Honor during the ceremony which was also highlighted by the induction of newly elected Alumni officers. Atty. Villa sounded nostalgic in his recollection of the past contribution of CPU to what he is now. He was introduced by a close friend Ms. Neonita Gobuyan, regional bureau chief of the Philippine News Agency, who was one of the inductees. Led by its president, Dr. Glenn A.M. Catedral, the other alumni officers who were inducted into office by Atty. Villa were Dr. Rolando Padilla, vice president; Mrs. Adela Sumindol-Cerdana, secretary; Mr. Benito Jimena, treasurer; Mr. Diosdado Aspa Jr., auditor.
