Pastor Burgos takes full time
pastorate
Pastor Efren S. Burgos took a leave of
absence from the university and started serving as resident minister of
the New Testament Baptist Church effective October 1. “I think this is
now the time,” he said, “which I have always anticipated when I made that
commitment about twenty years ago to serve Him as full-time pastor as my
way of thanksgiving for His grace and mercy to a person like me who was
once in the bondage of utter hopelessness.”
As arranged, Pastor Burgos maintains
part-time work with the university as property custodian and one of the
advisers of Centralite. “I am most grateful,” he said “for the kind of
support and understanding of Pres. Juanito Acanto, VPO Aurora Lim and our
personnel officer Mrs. Gloria Arriola for this challenge and greater opportunity
for pastoral ministry.”
Pastor
Burgos joined CPU in 1982 as publicity officer at the Office of Planning
and Development. In 1992, he was detailed at the Office of the Vice President
for Operation as property custodian. As a pastor, he served with Cabudian
Baptist Church for about 17 years and three years with Dungon Christian
Church.
He was formally installed as resident pastor
of New Testament Baptist Church on August 2, Sunday, with Rev. Dr. Domingo
Diel, Jr., president of Filamer Christian College, as officiating minister. |
