A study of Greek grammar, vocabulary and syntax with a view to understanding, reading and translating selected text of the New Testament in the original. 6 units.

B.S. 711 OLD TESTAMENT THEOLOGY
A systematic presentation of the major doctrines of the Old Testament. 3 units.

B.S. 723 UNITY AND DIVERSITY OF THE SCRIPTURES

A study of the congruity and the incongruity between the Testaments including the concepts of continuity and discontinuity, prophecy and fulfillment, typology, historical and theological unity. 3 units.

B.S. 724 SPECIAL PAPER
Students are required to write a special paper on the area of their specialization in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the degree—Master of Divinity. 3 units. ENDS. A survey of contemporary understanding of the biblical, historical and theological views and approaches of mission with special attention to current Asian and Philippine missiological enterprises. 3 units.

B.S. 812 NEW TESTAMENT THEOLOGY

A systematic presentation of the major doctrines of the New Testament, especially those in the Johannine and Pauline literature. 3 units.

C.Ed. 723a SEMINAR ON MODERN MISSION TRENDS

A survey of contemporary understanding of the biblical, historical and theological views and approaches of mission with special attention to current Asian and Philippine missiological enterprises. 3 units.

P.P.S. 604 METHODS OF RESEARCH
A theological type of research which appropriates reflective analysis and critical thinking in giving new conclusions to biblical and theological questions and issues. Students are guided in choosing a topic for and writing the first chapter of their thesis. 3 units. 

P.P.S. 835 CLINICAL PASTORAL EDUCATION
This is designed to develop skills in pastoral care and counseling in institutional ministry through supervised experience and instruction. This is offered every summer at Iloilo Mission Hospital. 3 units.

P.S.S. 836 RURAL AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT MINISTRIES

A supervised study and exposure program designed to raise the awareness and develop the skills of students in confronting development and theological issues in the rural and urban setting. This program is assisted by church related development programs, institutions or organizations. (Prerequisite: P.P.S. 817 Contemporary Issues and the Church).3 units.

T.S. 712 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY

A lecture presentation with research work on the development of theology as a religious and academic discipline centering on the role of revelation and reason in the formation content and methodology. 3 units.

T.S. 721a INTRODUCTION TO ECUMENICS AND MISSION
A historical, biblical and theological study of the meaning and challenge of the ecumenical movement for unity of the people of God with a focus on the World Council of Churches as its contemporary expression. 3 units.

T.S. 812 CHRISTOLOGY: PAST AND PRESENT
A study through lecture and research on the historical and contemporary christological understanding of the being and work of Jesus as the Christ. 3 units.

T.S. 823 CONTEMPORARY THEOLOGIES

A study of the meaning of the Christian faith in response to a contemporary situation with a special focus on liberation theology. 3 units.

BIBLICAL STUDIES MAJOR


B.S. 713 BIBLICAL CRITICISM
A study of certain techniques such as textual, literary, and form criticisms as used in the examination of many kinds of biblical literature in order to establish as far as possible their original wording, the manner and date of their composition, their sources and authorship. 3 units.

B.S. 721 OLD TESTAMENT EXEGESIS

A critical study of the message of some prophets with the aid of standard commentaries, with a view to understanding better the relevance of the prophets' message to their time and today. (Prerequisite: BS 435a Hebrew) 3 units.

B.S. 822 NEW TESTAMENT EXEGESIS
A critical study of some Pauline and Johannine passages, using commentaries and other exegetical tools. (Prerequisite: BS 535a Greek). 3 units.

B.S. 826 INTRODUCTION TO APOCRYPHA

A course to introduce the student to the "deutero-canonical" books of the bible with the purpose of studying their background and contents. 3 units.

B.S. 824 INTRODUCTION TO BIBLICAL ARCHAEOLOGY

A study of sites and materials significant to the Old Testament and New Testament studies. 3. units.

P.P.S. 715 PASTORAL MINISTRY IN CONFLICT SITUATIONS

A study of the dynamics of conflict situation in church and society and the application of the art of pastoral care in relation to them. 3 units.

P.P.S. 716 PSYCHOLOGY OF PERSONALITY

The course is designed to help students know and understand the different theories of personality. Integration of psychological knowledge with the students' theological orientation is important. 3 units.

P.P.S. 725 PASTORAL COUNSELING

The course deals with the rudiments of various counseling skills which may, together with other skills, equip the student for full-robed ministry. In every area of course material, the specific goal will be to discover the relevance and the most helpful application of these skills in the Philippine context of ministry. 3 units

P.P.S. 814 CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS

This is a study of the meaningful interrelationship of Christian theology with philosophical and scientific disciplines with special emphasis on the uniqueness of the Christian faith and its acceptability to the secular and non-Christian religious persuasion. 3 units.

P.P.S. 817a CONTEMPORARY ISSUES AND THE CHURCH

A survey of contemporary socio-political issues and their implications and impact on the life and works of the church. 3 units.

T.S. 822 PAULINE THEOLOGY
The course is a historical critical survey of Paul's theological positions expounded in his letters and their significance to the Christian formulations and expressions of faith. 3 units.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MAJOR

C.Ed. 612 TRAINING RELIGIOUS EDUCATORS FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH AND ADULTS
This course is designed to offer varied experiences to would-be Christian education directors hoping to work with children, the youth and adults. Instruction and practice opportunities will be given in various ways under the guidance of a Christian education director. 3 units.

C.Ed. 715 LEADERSHIP TRAINING IN THE CHURCH
The course deals with the dynamics of leadership in a local church with special emphasis on designing and conducting a training scheme for a particular leadership training sessions in local churches. 3 units.

C.Ed. 724 FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION IN THE CHURCH
A course designed to survey the family life education program in the local church and develop a family life education curriculum responsive to the identified the needs of church family. 3 units.

C.Ed. 811 CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT/TEACHING PRACTICE
A curriculum designs tracing their development from their inception, taking into account the present trends, teaching needs and practices. 3 units.

C.Ed. 812 KINDERGARTEN ADMINISTRATION AND SUPERVISION
A study of the philosophy and principle of administration and supervision of classes of all levels, development of curriculum and administration of personnel. 3 units.

C.Ed. 823 CHRISTIAN JOURNALISM

This is a survey and evaluation of religious writing for secular and church publication with practice in writing editing, and publishing different types of religious literature. 3 units.
