CHEMICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
Chemical Engineering is concerned with the development of the process, design and operation of industrial plants in which materials undergo changes in properties. Chemical Engineering is a distinct engineering profession based on the synthesis of chemistry and engineering with background on physics and mathematics. Chemistry, as a related field, is concerned with laboratory experiments and small scale operations, while chemical engineering undertakes the same in commercial quantities with the aim of generating profit.
In order to prepare for such an interesting and challenging profession, chemical engineering must have a triple solid foundation of mathematics, physics, and chemistry, as well as English, being a medium of instruction. This field also includes studies on mechanics of solids and fluids, material and energy calculation, thermodynamics, environmental and biochemical engineering, unit operations and plant design, instrumentation and process control and chemical engineering laws, contract and ethics.
